Current Learning in Koru Hub
Alphon, Tom, Millie, Gracie and Emma are practising counting back from 100 and ordering numbers.
A group of students and teachers from Corrina School were visiting our school on Thursday. The students loved our music space and displayed their musical talents. Lorenzo played a couple of songs on the guitar for us during his visit.
Siddhesh asked for his photo to be taken, and what a photo!
Hamish, Echelon and Sam are listening to music and analysing the emotions, the story and the message that the songs portray.
Alexis, Ishaan, Garv and Hamish are creating music to match a visual image or silent movie. They are making decisions around tempo, dynamics, pitch, beat and rhythm and what types of musical elements portray different emotions and stories.
moveMprove
Each Friday this term all the children participate in moveMprove. This is run by Easy Gym - the same people from Easy Swim who take us for our swimming lessons. Todd, Wendy and Rachel are our instructors and organise fun and exciting activities every week. Children have a warm up that involves learning a fundamental movement skill, a game and then head into their four rotations. Each rotation is a mini circuit with equipment and tasks that practise the new skill and consolidate other movement skills while increasing fitness. After children have moved through all rotations children have a fitness game to end the session.

Learning Programmes
This term we are focusing on Living Stories in which people's experiences with WW1 will be used to explore four themes. We will be discovering and creating how we express emotion through the arts - visual art, drama, dance, music and poetry. This will lead us to an exhibition at the end of the term. Our maths focus is orientation and position and then we will be moving into number strategies using addition and subtraction.
Rotations
Additional to core curriculum learning taking place on Thursdays and Fridays we also have some exciting activities added on.
Thursdays: After consultation with students and teachers we have changed our rotations to be on a Thursday instead of a Monday. All students will rotate through Te Reo (Crisanna), Sport (Merrick) and Photography (Fiona). Throughout the day individual and group music lessons with Julia and Gus will be taking place.
Fridays: Crisanna will be in school on Fridays this term. Children will be involved in some of the following: kapa haka, boys haka, girls poi, waiata, street dance and Te Reo extension. Julia will also be completing her individual and group music lesson during the morning.
Music and Mandarin will be delivered in the hub by hub teachers throughout the week.
We look forward to continuing working with you and your families this term.
Warm regards,
Mike, Erica, Demelza and Angela
